  • Minnetonka Elementary Run Club

Improve your overall fitness and learn the essentials of proper form, drills, hydration and nutrition, proper warm-up and cool down, breathing, stretching and pacing. Kids should be prepared each meeting to run continuously for at least ½ to 1 ½ miles, depending on their grade. Participants will meet their coach in front of the school each morning. These 50-minute sessions are on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings. Times will vary according to which school the child attends. Students will be brought back into the school at the school's first bell. Participants are encouraged to bring warm and comfortable clothing, running shoes, a water bottle and a breakfast snack for afterward. Participants are provided with a Run Club t-shirt. Open to students in grades 2-5. We will end the program with a Track Meet on Sunday, October 12th at 1:30 PM at the Minnetonka High School Track and Field. Parents will be able to sign their athlete up for two events. The sign-up will be sent out closer to the track meet (once students have a better understanding of which events they may want to compete in). Events include a 1-mile run, 800m run, 400m run, 200m run, and a 100m Dash. Following the kids' races, we will be having a parent/adult 400m run, so come ready to run!
