    This 3-on-3 basketball league offers supplemental skill development through individual training and competitive 3-on-3 games. 3-on-3 basketball provides more action and repetitions for each player while building important basketball skills. Typical evenings will consist of 60 minutes of skill development and 60 minutes of gameplay. The first session will involve evaluations through skills competitions to create balanced teams, which may be adjusted throughout the program. Each player will receive the ongoing results of their evaluation. A tournament will be held during the final session if there are enough participants.     LEAGUE PLAY AND SCHEDULE Competitive league for non-varsity girls who want to play with their friends for fun. Teams practice once each week beginning December 8th. Sunday games are played at MHS beginning January 11th, followed by an end of the season tournament March 7th/8th. All games will have professional referees. All players will receive a reversible jersey. Girls rec teams will compete against Minnetonka, Wayzata, Edina and Eden Prairie rec teams, with all games taking place in Minnetonka. League may be split into multiple divisions pending number of teams. Please click here for more information and FAQs TEAM FORMATION Players form their own teams of 8-10 participants. Teams must have a minimum of 8 players on a team. Players do not need to be from the same grade level. Please indicate your other team members on your registration. Players without a team may register as a free agent and will be placed on a team that does not have a full roster. COACHES All teams require a volunteer coach who can attend all practices and games. If you are interested in coaching, please indicate your desire on your son or daughter’s registration.     Competitive league for non-varsity boys who want to play against rec teams from other schools. REC BASKETBALL SEASON SAFETY PROTOCOLS Thank you for registering in our Tonka Rec Basketball program. We are excited for a great season of learning and fun! LEAGUE PLAY AND SCHEDULE Minnetonka teams will compete against teams from Wayzata, Hopkins and Edina. Teams practice once per week beginning the week of December 8th. Sunday games at surrounding communities begin January 4th, followed by an end of the season tournament the weekend of 3/7-3/8. All games will have two professional referees. Players will receive a reversible jersey. PLEASE NOTE: If players register for both the Intramural Boys League and the Southwest Basketball League, the scheduler cannot guarantee that practices and games will not conflict. SCHEDULE Coaches, players and parents will be emailed their child's game schedule by December 21st. TEAM FORMATION Southwest League rules require that all teams be formed evenly (no stacked teams). Friend requests are honored only if both players have requested each other. Due to the equal teams rule, we may not be able to honor all friend requests. Players who register late will be placed onto a team based on roster openings while maintaining an evenly skilled team. COACHES All teams require a volunteer coach who can attend all practices and games. If you are interested in coaching, please indicate your desire on your son’s registration.     Learn beginner-level concepts through age-appropriate cooperative play and fundamental basketball. Focus on footwork, triple-threat position, ball handling, shooting form, passing, defense and basic game rules. Communication is essential, so you will also learn how to work with others in small group games.   • MHS Girls Basketball - Lil Skippers Youth Camp

    Non-school day? Tonka Girls Basketball has you covered! Learn from the High School Girls Team as you stay active, build confidence in fundamentals and play short-court games. ETS Performance will lead the group in a dynamic warm-up to kick off the day, and then players will be split up into small groups to ensure personal attention and maximize repetitions. Athletes will end with showcase games beginning at 2:30pm to show off skills for parents - It’s sure to be a day that your future Skipper will not want to miss! This camp will leave you excited to enjoy the journey of development while getting to know our very own lady Skippers! Campers should pack their own lunch and bring athletic shoes, a basketball and labeled water bottle. Snacks will be provided during designated time.

  • Tonka Rec Basketball League: Grades 1-2

    Develop your dribbling, passing, shooting and defensive skills with Tonka Rec Basketball. Practice/game times are one hour in length (30-minute practice followed by a 30-minute game), with varying start times between 8 AM and 5 PM at Groveland Elementary, Minnetonka Middle School East/West or Scenic Heights Elementary. If you register after November 2 and your child is placed on a team, a $30 late fee will be assessed, and teammate requests may not be available. Team Formation: Teams will be formed based on gender, grade level, school attendance, availability of volunteer coaches and teammate requests. Players may request to be placed on the same team as one other player when registering. Teammate requests will be considered, provided the player you request also requests you.
