Camp InventionSTEMCamp Invention is an exciting, week-long summer adventure with lessons that explore connections between science, technology, engineering and innovation. Children will work together to seek solutions to real-world problems and sharpen critical 21st century learning skills while rotating through several fascinating modules. Where BIG IDEAS become the next BIG THING. In partnership with the National Inventors Hall of Fame, Minnetonka Community Education is pleased to offer the nationally-acclaimed Camp Invention program to children entering grades one through six. Here is how young innovators will be spending their time: Recharge: June 28-July 2, Minnetonka Middle School East, $269 per student Camp Director: Joan Wright Energize your creativity and confidence with Recharge. Collaborate with friends in hands-on, open-ended STEM challenges. You’ll take apart a microphone to explore its inner workings, build and test a device to launch rubber ducks, and design morphing vehicles for the Super Road Rally! Each activity is designed to inspire curiosity, spark your imagination and give you the best summer ever! Elevate: August 2-6, Minnetonka Middle School West, $269 per student Imaginations soar as you learn about flight with the help of your very own flight simulation robot. Discover ways to protect Earth’s ecosystems, sketch and build prototypes while protecting their intellectual property and design the ultimate sports complex with inspiration from the real-world inventors behind their favorite sports! In both programs participants will tackle challenges from famous inventors and take apart broken or unused appliances using real tools to develop something new. Students will be broken up into groups based on grade level. Local educators will facilitate program modules and enthusiastic high school students will serve as Leadership Interns ensuring that one staff member is in place for every eight children. Every registration includes a complimentary Camp Invention t-shirt. Availability is limited, so reserve your child’s spot today! At-Home Option This summer, families will also have the option to attend Camp Invention at-home! Students may sign up for the at-home option and log in to live sessions with a Camp Invention instructor. All materials will be provided in a kit for your student. Become a Leader-in-Training!
