This curriculum helps increase the supply of young people equipped with the character, compassion, and problem-solving skills essential for becoming good neighbors to all. Over the last four decades great pride has been taken in giving specific techniques that work when the "rubber hits the road."
Participants will learn:
Chris Peterson is a husband, a father, and an educator. Don't ask him what he teaches because his response is always "people". Chris has had the fortune of graduating twice from the University of Wisconsin LaCrosse, receiving a BS in Health and Physical Education and an MS in PE with an Adventure Education emphasis. Here he had countless opportunities to work with great educators from all over the state.
Chris moved to the West Coast in 1999 and spent two years teaching and coaching young people. It was in the Portland, Oregon area where he received his experience working with a very diverse population of students. It was here he learned about what attracts kids into the "gang" lifestyle. This is where he realized the lifetime impact that can be had with students. This impact is a two-way street.
Chris recently stepped away from the classroom in Holmen, WI to attain his administrative license from the Winona State University in Minnesota and to spend more time at home raising their two daughters. He's been blessed with a number of opportunities to work with parents, students and educators all around the state, leading workshops on refusal skills, classroom management and discipline, and anti-bullying programs. He had the fortune to work with Jim and Charles Fay while completing his independent facilitator training for Becoming a Love and Logic Parent. Chris and his wife feel blessed to raise their children with these strategies.
He has had the opportunity to meet thousands of educators while presenting at conferences including: Wisconsin Education Association Council (WEAC), Wisconsin Association of Health Physical Education Recreation and Dance (WAHPERD), Wisconsin Head Start Association (WHSA) Building the Heart of Successful Schools, Wisconsin School Counselors Association (WSCA), Minnesota School Counselors Association (MSCA), Iowa School Counselors Association (ISCA), North Dakota Counselors Association (NDCA), Health and PE Best Practices, and others. Chris continues to travel around the region working with the parents, teachers and students of large school districts such as: Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS), Appleton, Howard Suamico, Las Vegas and DePere as well as smaller schools like Cloquet, Elcho, Merrill, Wazeka-Steuben, and Pulaski. Most recently he was selected to present in Atlanta at the National Innovative Schools Summit.
Chris is excited to teach, and even more excited to learn, working to realize his vision: Influencing the development of the next generations of world-class citizens.
