Chinese Calligraphy and Painting

Fall 2024

Introduce and familiarize yourself to the basic tools for writing calligraphy and painting Chinese traditional painting: brushes, ink, paper, and color. Learn simple painting techniques step by step, starting from plum blossom, orchid, bamboo, and chrysanthemum, and then move on to flowers, birds, fish, insects, and finally natural landscapes, to achieve an understanding and appreciation of Chinese painting and calligraphy.
