    SATURDAY, MAY 15 This great community run, bike and swim event is open to all boys and girls in grades 2-8. The race takes place Saturday, May 15 at Minnetonka Middle School East. All participants receive a wicking t-shirt, refreshments, swim cap and finisher medal. Trophies will be awarded to the top three male and top three female finishers in each division for participants grades 2-8. Per the current Minnesota Department of Health guidance all participants must be pre-registered. Stop at the door prize table on your way out. Due to capacity restrictions, only one spectator per participant will be allowed Other spectators can volunteer for this event, please click here Note: siblings of participant, regardless of age, count as a spectator MDH guidelines currently state only 250 people are allowed for events This will allow for 125 participants and 125 spectators per each of the two sessions Staff and volunteers do not count in the 250 capacity Session I: Grades 4&5, Grades 6-7-8 and Elite 8-8:30 a.m. Packet pickup and body marking (MME Basketball Court) 8:30 a.m. Announcements (Start/Finish Line) Session II: Grades 2&3 10-10:30 a.m. Packet pickup and body marking (MME Basketball Court) 10:30 a.m. Announcements (Start/Finish Line) Event Information Registration Online registration closes at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 10th. There is no same day registration per Minnesota Department of Health. Refund Policy: No refunds or transfers are allowed for any reason at any time including ride cancellation. COVID-19 Event Cancellation Policy Refund Policy: If COVID-19 conditions and MDH restrictions do not improve, there’s a chance we will have to cancel our Youth Triathlon event for the second year in a row. Should Minnetonka Community Education (MCE) have to make the difficult decision to cancel the event or pull back registrations due to limited capacity due to COVID-19, MCE will not provide refunds but will provide a 50% discount that can be applied to either the 2022 or 2023 Youth Triathlon event. If the Youth Triathlon needs to be pulled back to a limited capacity we will prioritize registrations in the order they were received. The Youth Triathlon will be held rain or shine. Bike helmets are mandatory. Athletes will be timed via chip timing for the Bike/Run portion (timed together), and will be timed manually for the swim portion of the event. Parking The Minnetonka United Methodist Church, located at 17611 Lake St Extension, has graciously allowed us to utilize its parking lot for the event. As the parking spots at MME will fill quickly, we recommend parking in their lot, and then walking to the school. The Youth Triathlon is sponsored by ALARC, Safeway Driving School, Domino, and Chanhassen Chick-Fil-A. Packet Pick-Up: Packet Pick-up for Youth Triathlon participants will be available at the following times: Thursday, May 13 and Friday, May 14 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Minnetonka Community Education Center (front lobby). Saturday, May 15: 8-8:30 a.m. Any Session I participants who have not picked up their packets may do so at the basketball court after they have completed their Health Screening. 10-10:30 a.m. Any Session II participants who have not picked up their packets may do so at the basketball court after they have completed their Health Screening. Participants will receive their bib number, event t-shirt and swim cap at packet pick-up. Regardless of your pick-up, you’ll need to visit the Health Screening tent and then the Body Marking station on Saturday morning to have your body marking completed for the event. Volunteers Needed! We need volunteers to help with body marking, directing the participants along the route, helping in the bike corral, or supervising indoors. If you can help, please sign up during the registration process, or click here. We recommend that there is a parent or other adult available to help the athlete transition between events if needed; please ensure that there is another adult present at the event if you would like to volunteer. *Sessions and times are subject to change. The number of sessions will be based on participant numbers and guidelines set forth by the Minnesota Department of Health. We will continue to monitor and adjust accordingly. If Minnetonka Community Education changes the number of sessions or times, all participants will be notified via email or phone.
