  • 4s Preschool Nature Adventure!

    Take your traditional Minnetonka Preschool class outdoors! This course will spend at least half of the class time outside daily (weather permitting) in our Outdoor Learning Center (OLC) and exploring the wooded area behind MCEC. Outdoor play and learning allows your child the opportunity to develop their brain, body and social-emotional intelligence through discovery, while also developing respect and appreciation for our natural world. The class will focus on nature related thematic units including insects, trees, seasons, animals and more. Minnetonka Preschool fees are billed on the first of every month from October 1, 2024 to June 1, 2025.     This Spanish Immersion Preschool course will provide English-speaking pre-kindergarten children with the opportunity to learn in a second language. As with our English preschool classes, this immersion class utilizes Creative Curriculum and focuses on preparing children for kindergarten. This class is perfect for families interested in pursuing Minnetonka Schools' Kindergarten Spanish Immersion program. Class will be taught in Spanish.     Children ages 1- 4 | separating Join other families with young children for fun, hands-on activities followed by discussion with a licensed parent educator. Conversation topics may range from behavior strategies to sleeping routines to sibling relationships. This class can be a great fit for families with multiple children between the ages of one to four. Please register each child separately.
  • Early Childhood and Family Education - Ages and Stages

    ECFE Ages and Stages Classes are designed to foster strong parent-child relationships through interactive activities and educator-led discussions at each developmental stage of your child's life. Join our engaging weekly classes, where mutual support, shared growth, and collaboration embody the spirit of "it takes a village to raise a child." Class Structure: Parent-Child Interaction (First Half): Follow your child's lead during this interactive time. Relax and enjoy learning more about your child's interests through play and exploration. Circle Time: Led by a licensed Early Childhood Educator, this session includes songs, stories, and movement activities. Parent Discussion (Second Half): A licensed Parent Educator facilitates discussions where parents can share the joys and challenges of parenting, problem-solve, and exchange insights and resources. Topics may include child development, emotional regulation, temperament, sleep, toilet learning, and more. Gradual Separation Benefits: Strong adult-child relationships provide young children with a sense of comfort, safety, confidence, and encouragement as they grow more independent. The gradual separation progression in our ECFE classes is an intentional, developmentally appropriate practice that supports the attachment relationship. Class Separating Types: Non-Separating Classes: Parents remain in the parent-child room for the entire session. Gradually Separating Classes: Parents transition from being in the parent-child room to a separate discussion room over time.   • Lunch Bunch 2025-2026

    3-5 years (must be 3 by 9/1/2025) Looking for a little extra time at preschool but don't need wrap around child care? Lunch Bunch provides a time for Minnetonka Preschoolers to eat and socialize with their peers. Parents provide a bag lunch. Children must be enrolled in Minnetonka Preschool in order to participate in Lunch Bunch. Children are escorted by a staff member to and from preschool and language exploration programming. If your child is enrolled in Junior Explorers childcare opposite of their preschool day, Lunch bunch is not needed The following preschool sections are not compatible with Lunch Bunch 419-16 and 419-18. Single days of Lunch Bunch may be available if space permits at a cost of $20/day. Call 952-401-6812 for availability.
  • MCEC Key Card

    In an effort to keep students and staff safe, only the east and south main entrances at Minnetonka Community Education Center(MCEC) will be unlocked. On school days between the hours of 6:30am - 6:00pm., the main doors entering the first floor from the lobby will be locked. Families will need to use a key card to gain access to the classrooms. The key cards are only for families enrolled in Minnetonka Preschool or Jr. Explorers and will be activated for use during your child's scheduled class/child care days and times. Your family may register for up to two key cards and will be charged a $20 deposit for each card. If you decline to get keycards, please sign in at reception each time you enter the building to receive a visitor pass.

    Children ages birth-12 months | non-separating Meet other families with newborns and enjoy time with your new baby. Spend the entire class together, engaged in sensory and movement activities and a licensed educator-led discussion. Learn about your baby’s growth and development, how to develop healthy eating and sleeping habits and what research tells us about your baby’s important first experiences. Sign up for the whole school year or 10 weeks at a time.

  • Parenting in the Great Outdoors

    Children ages 3-4 Years | non-separating At ECFE, we know the importance of cultivating in children (and adults) a love of nature. We have a lovely outdoor space adjacent to our building and are offering a parent-child class that connects young learners with nature, creativity and scientific inquiry. This is a non-separating class where children and parents explore the natural world. We spend as much time outdoors as possible; when weather prevents outdoor activity we bring nature in. We will meet rain or shine, dress appropriately.

    Going to kindergarten is a milestone event for every child and family. You and your child may have a variety of emotions, including excitement, anticipation, and worry about the unknown. The good news is parents and caregivers can help prepare their child for the transition to kindergarten. In this workshop, we will discuss strategies for strengthening your child’s skills, developing routines and strategies for a successful start to school.
  • Ready-Set Preschool

    Children ages 30- 35 months | separating (on parent child day) We recognize that children develop along a continuum and this class is perfect for children who are working towards the independence skills needed for preschool. This unique blend of parent-child time and peer group interaction offers an introductory preschool experience. The child-only day gives your child a chance to interact independently with peers and is led by a licensed early childhood teacher. The parent-child day is playtime together, followed by a separate discussion led by a licensed parent educator. *Monday's class ends at 10:45 am and Wednesday's class ends at 10:15 am.

    Children ages 1-4 years (by January 1, 2026) | separating Experience a winter Saturday morning learning adventure. Enjoy quality time playing and learning together through activities designed for you and your child. Enhance your parenting skills through engaging discussions while your children interact with their peers and teachers. During separation, your child will enjoy a snack and playtime in the gym. Register for Rise & Shine on its own, or add Stay & Play to extend the fun with an additional 30 minutes in the MCEC gym after class.
