Learn more about the plants and animals of Westwood Hills Nature preserve with a hands-on cast metal art project. While working with a naturalist, we will learn more about the wildlife and landscape in the interpretive exhibits and then we will walk to collect found objects in nature. Some of these objects, textures and shapes will have molds made of them to be cast in metal. Participants will learn how to pour metal into a mold to create their own Souvenir Artifact - a small sculpture, pendant, pin or pocket charm.
Each participant will get a fun t-shirt as part of their registration to represent the collaboration between Project SOAR, WOW Mobile Metal Lab and Westwood Hills.
This class provides an opportunity for all that participate to become naturalists at the St. Louis Park Art Fair on September 7th and share their experience on make the metal castings with the public.
