    Love the spotlight, stage, drama, and comedy of theater? Well now you can join in with SOAR friends as we create our first performing stage troop. Never acted before no problem everyone will learn at their level. Become one of SOAR's stars this summer. Included is 4 rehearsals and we will be performing for the ChapelView Senior Living Community on August 22nd this season along with the SOAR Songbirds Choir. The theater we will rehearse and perform in is ADA accessible.

    Join us for our summer theater experience. Based on a true story and set in New York City at the turn of the of the 20th century, NEWSIES is a rousing tale of Jack Kelly, a charismatic leader who rallies newsies from across the city to strike against unfair conditions and dream of a better life! Featuring the now classic songs Carrying the Banner, Seize the Day, and Santa Fe, this family-friendly Disney film turned Tony-winning Broadway hit is packed with non-stop thrills and inspires everyone to fight for what’s right and seize the day! We are attending a show that has ASL Interpretation. Last Day to register is July 8th. No registrations, refunds/cancellations after July 8th

    Learn to think on your feet, gain self-confidence, and have a ton of fun performing with your friends. No experience necessary. The class is taught by instructors from Stevie Ray’s Improv Company, one of the longest running improv theaters in Minnesota. The class culminates with you performing a recital for family and friends at Stevie Ray’s Comedy Cabaret, located at the famous Chanhassen Dinner Theaters! Students will finish off their week by doing a recital at Chanhassen Dinner Theater for their friends and family. The recital will be from 3:30pm-4:30pm on August 23rd. Audience members will be charged $5 to attend the recital. This goes towards the Stevie Ray Improv Company staff for hosting the show and Chanhassen Dinner Theatre.     Join us for a fun filled theater camp focused on the craft of acting. Have a blast developing characters, playing improv games, creating and performing short monologues, scenes and plays. This course is designed for the performer who loves theater and is looking for more opportunities to hone their acting skills. Students will learn how to audition successfully, collaborate, and use their imaginations while exploring a variety of fun characters. This acting camp is sure to be a summer highlight and will build student confidence, foster friendships, and improve performance skills! No prior acting experience required.   • Summer Choir Camp

    This fast-paced, exciting workshop is perfect for children who love to sing and want to develop their voices further. Young singers will learn a variety of songs, including musical theater and jazz selections. We will also explore the skill of vocal improvisation (scat singing), beatboxing and singing two notes at the same time using harmonic overtones. At the end of the week, we will put on a public concert showcasing our work. Participants from past years are encouraged to join us again as the music is never the same from year to year. All ability levels are welcome!
  • Minnetonka Youth Theatre Performance Camp: The Tale of Snow White

    Oh, no! Not ANOTHER Snow White play! But have no fear! This fresh and funny adaptation will make even the most jaded folks laugh out loud as it expands the Brothers Grimm tale with new characters who have always lived between the lines of the classic fairy tale. This version, using a fun frame story of a contemporary mom reading to her bickering children, is loaded with bright new faces and comedic twists. We meet a gaggle of forest animals, friendly Dwarf Villagers, a troupe of ladies-in-waiting with a penchant for limericks, the Huntsman’s squabbling conscience and even a nerdy governmental representative from the Department of Natural Resources trying to keep the forest dwellers from ruining the environment! (He nabs the Huntsman for attempting to kill a wild pig without a hunting license and fines a dwarf for picking a bouquet of state flowers!) With an incredibly flexible “cast of thousands,” this production offers scores of young thespians of all ages the joy of being onstage. Schedule: Auditions will be held on Monday. Rehearsals will be held throughout the remainder of the week (Tuesday-Thursday). Rehearsal schedules will be from 9am -12pm. On Friday, rehearsal will begin at 3:00 pm in lieu of the regular morning session. Our performance will be Friday at 5 pm. Please send a snack with your child daily. A black base costume will be required for performance, including black pants/leggings, black t-shirts, black socks and black nonslip shoes (like black tennis shoes or black dance shoes). We will build costuming on top of that.

    Join us for a fun-filled week focused on the craft of acting. This is a level two acting class and while prior acting experience is not required, we will move at a more rigorous pace. The focus will be on creating believable characters, acing your audition, cold reads, improv skills, scene work and more. Students should bring a bag lunch and water bottle.
  • Storybook Theatre

    Professional actors and directors will work with up to 60 young actors in each production. The troupe will rehearse for one week and perform the play on Friday and Saturday. Participants experience the excitement of producing an original musical production based on a classic tale. Set, costumes, props and makeup are provided. Schedule: Auditions will be held on Monday. Rehearsals will be held throughout the remainder of the week (Tuesday-Thursday). Rehearsal schedules will be handed out after the auditions and will generally run between 8:00 am-12:15 pm. On Friday, rehearsal will begin at 2:30 pm in lieu of the regular morning session. Performances are Friday at 6 pm and Saturday at 10am. Please send a snack with your child daily and a bag dinner on Friday. Tickets: Two complimentary tickets will be given out to each participant. Additional tickets may be purchased before the show on Friday and Saturday. Attendance: Rehearsal time is limited, so it is crucial for students to be there for their practice times. In addition, it is expected that all members will perform on both Friday and Saturday. Due to cast size, not all actors will receive speaking lines, but all will be involved in musical numbers throughout the show.
