Youth Enrichment / STEM -
Fall 2025

Future engineers, this is your moment! Get ready to build, brainstorm and problem-solve your way through exciting challenges that sharpen your critical thinking, teamwork and real-world engineering skills.

New, hands-on lessons from various engineering disciplines. Focusing on developing 21st Century skills such as problem solving, critical thinking and peer collaboration.

These life skills provide students with the confidence to approach challenges in their lives and realize that they can succeed in almost anything! Engineering for Kids has a library of 300+ individual lessons which continues to grow so we never have to repeat lessons.

Fall 1 Lessons (classes beginning in September):

Order may vary.

Environmental Engineering Fall Homes Learn about some different ways animals prepare for winter and will use the Engineering Design Process to design a den that keeps an animal safe in the winter.
Construction Engineering Corn Maze Use the Engineering Design Process to design and build a corn maze with a start, a finish and a path that connects them.
Acoustic Engineering Kazoo Students will experiment with sound and make their own kazoo.
Structural Engineering Fall Harvest Learn how scarecrows are used to protect food that is growing and will use the Engineering Design Process to design a scarecrow that can stand up to fall weather.
Mechanical Engineering Treat Dispenser Students will learn about simple machines and design a simple treat dispenser.
Civil Engineering Fall Fort Students will learn about the importance of a strong base to support a building and will use the Engineering Design Process to design and construct a fort.

Fall 2 Lessons (classes beginning in November):

Order may vary.

Environmental Engineering Wind Turbine

Students explore renewable clean energy resources like wind energy, learn how energy can be transformed and design a wind turbine that uses energy transformation to lift a small object.

Aerospace Engineering Striking Snowflakes Students will learn what an aerospace engineer is, what a meteorologist is and land a snowflake on a target.
Sports Engineering Hit the Slopes Students will learn what a sports engineer is, how friction and design impact a sled and which will slide the furthest.
Wind Engineering Windsock

Students will understand the movement of an object in relation to the wind direction and will construct a windsock to show the movement of air.

Environmental Engineering Hurricane Students learn about how hurricanes form and spin and will use the Engineering Design Process to design and build a model of a hurricane.
Mechanical Engineering Wheelbarrow Students learn how simple machines do work for people and will use the Engineering Design Process to design a machine that helps lift and carry a heavy load.
