Youth Enrichment / STEM -
Fall 2024

Calling all future engineers! It’s time to develop your critical thinking, problem solving and collaboration skills through engineering disciplines.

New, hands-on lessons from various engineering disciplines. Focusing on developing 21st Century skills such as problem solving, critical thinking and peer collaboration.

These life skills provide students with the confidence to approach challenges in their lives and realize that they can succeed in almost anything! Engineering for Kids has a library of 300+ individual lessons which continues to grow so we never have to repeat lessons.

Fall 1 Lessons (classes beginning in September):

Order may vary.

Mechanical Engineering Buzzers Students will learn about some properties of vibration, and make a Buzzer that they can manipulate to change the pitch of the vibrating noise.
Civil Engineering Three Little Pigs Challenge Using the materials provided, can you create a house for your pig that can withstand the effects of different wind speeds?
Aerospace Engineering Stomp Rockets Students will understand the design of a rocket, and build their own.
Acoustic Engineering Flute Students explore sound and make music with their own pan flute.
Mechanical Engineering Zipline Students learn about packing and delivery systems and build one of their own.
Aerospace Engineering Whirling Wonders Students learn how helicopters fly with the concepts of lift and thrust.

Fall 2 Lessons (classes beginning in November):

Order may vary.

Chemical Engineering Primary Colors

Students will identify the primary colors and how to mix them to make secondary colors; and will create a color wheel to understand the correlation between colors.

Mechanical Engineering Star Spinner Students learn about potential and kinetic energy as they make a fun star spinner toy.
Aerospace Engineering Parachutes Students explore aerospace engineering and design a parachute for Santa.
Mechanical Engineering Box Car

Students learn about the different forces that act on a car and build their own basic car.

Marine Engineering Gingerbread Man's Escape Students explore marine engineering and construct a boat to help the Gingerbread Man escape.
