Minnetonka Preschool Knit Hat
Escape to the Mediterranean with the flavors of Greece and get your “OPPA” on! During this fun-filled virtual cook-along class, you will learn the secrets of creating a lavish dish, pastitsio, and a divine Greek dessert, galaktoboureko. Pastitsio is a delicacy in its own right; it is a culmination of layered Greek pasta, savory spiced meat sauce, and a topping of often “mile high” cheesy béchamel sauce, baked to perfection. Galaktoboureko, is a gourmet dessert made with a thick luscious Greek custard, wrapped in phyllo pastry, and bathed in a dreamy syrup. Greek gourmet at its finest. Participants are encouraged to cook along with Tess and create the pastitsio from scratch during the class. Tess will be demonstrating the creation of the galaktoboureko.
Participants will receive a list of ingredients in advance of the class with enough time for shopping and prep and an all-inclusive recipe packet after the class. Note: One registration fee for this class can include immediate family members living full-time in the same home. If children are participating, adult supervision is required.
Tess Georgakopoulos has been cooking for well over 40 years since she was roughly 6 years old. Born into a Greek family, the art of cooking traditional meals using ones senses rather than recipes and measurements was passed on from one generation to the next. Her father was also a trained chef who brought the magic of food to life in another form on the weekends as they cooked elaborate family meals together. Food prepared from the heart, with ones own hands and creativity was, and continues to be an expression of love in her home. As a skilled home cook and baker, Tess enjoys creating original recipes for her family and friends. Sweet, savory, or doughy, she enjoys experimenting and creating in the kitchen daily. Pressure cooking with a stove-top cooker has been a part of her culinary repertoire for over 25 years. Tess is creating new recipes and reinventing traditional ones using the Instant Pot which is taking her pressure cooking to another level!
