This will take place at Lake Minnewashta Regional Park . The schedule will depend on freeze and thaw cycle and trail conditions. Footwear with traction devices are an absolute must as the trails get icy. As the snow accumulates, showshoes are recommendedWe will not be on asphalt. We will have two pace groups: Pace Group A (Leisure Pace, recommended for ages 65+): will cover 1 to 1.5 miles in an hour, with rests at top of all hills. We take in more impressions. We go slow, leave no one behind. Must pass fitness requirements to sign up for safety reasons. Pace group B will go 2.5 -3 miles in an hour depending on conditions. This is more rigorous and not to be signed up for unless you are certain of your abilities. Great way to explore the trails and increase strength and endurance. Fitness test: Must be able to stand on one foot unsupported for 10 seconds to attend either group and hike for an hour. Download the Alltrails maps to check out the difficulty of the trails before you sign up. We step over trees, cross muddy rivers, the trails are rooty and rocky. We won't be on asphalt, so bring footwear with traction. Some days snowshoes will be necessary.
