Hand-Bound Journal

Create your own hand-bound journal by reusing vintage book covers. You’ll leave the class with your very own handmade book, plus the know how required to make them on your own in the future.

Meg Erke

Meg Erke is an artist and educator with nearly two decades of experience. She earned a BA in Visual Art from Luther College and went on to earn a Masters of Education in Creative Arts from Lesley University. Meg works out of her home studio in the vibrant Longfellow neighborhood of South Minneapolis.

She loves bookbinding, mixed media painting, all things paper and teaching budding artists of all ages and abilities.
Meg’s work is inspired by nature and the accessibility of outdoor spaces in Minneapolis area. She finds beauty in the discarded (broken books, old windows, yellowed paper). Meg is especially drawn to old and broken books integrating parts of salvaged books into all of her work.

Meg passionately believes that absolutely everyone can learn to draw, paint, sculpt and be creative with the right guidance and support. Meg’s students gain skills and confidence through intentional, concrete demonstrations and use of quality professional art materials.
