Before & After the Funeral

After a loved one dies, family members are bombarded with a multitude of questions related to decisions that must be made. Working through questions about funeral planning and legal estate settlement ahead of time to ease the burden on loved ones.


Funeral consultant Jeanne McGill will discuss funeral pre-planning, and lawyer Bonnie Wittenburg will discuss probate, explain when probate is and isn't necessary and outline the steps that the deceased's loved ones can expect in settling the deceased's affairs.

Jeanne McGill

Jeanne McGill, a certified pre-planning funeral consultant, helps families make end-of-life plans. Through education and passion, she creates an environment that fosters communication between individuals and family members concerning this difficult subject.


Bonnie Wittenburg

Bonnie Wittenburg, of Wittenburg Law Office in Minnetonka, focuses on estate planning, probate, and trust administration. Bonnie has an MBA from Columbia University in New York, and a law degree from the University of St. Thomas in Minneapolis. Bonnie had pre-law careers as a newspaper reporter for The Des Moines Register, a retail manager, and a stock analyst. Bonnie takes particular pride in being able to explain confusing estate plan concepts to her clients in plain language-skills that she first honed as a newspaper reporter.

As a baby boomer, Bonnie understands what others are now experiencing or may experience in the near future, because Bonnie's life experiences include the deaths of her parents, deaths of friends, and her father's ill-prepared succession plan. She grew up on a family farm that is now run by the third generation.
